About the Painter
Jerry Anton Zelinka, born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1934, completed an art education at the prestigious Morgan Institute of Art in Tulsa plus art studies at the University of Tulsa, and subsequently a degree at TU.
During the 1950s he spent a few years active in an intelligence capacity overseas, not near working art. Returning to the US, he brought back surrealistic images that found their way years later onto canvases. He has exhibited art in formidable juried exhibitions in Oklahoma and in Florida where his drawings and paintings have been awarded moneyed prizes. His many aeronautical illustrations and graphic charts were purchased by American Airlines, Inc. during the 1960s and ‘70s.
Lately Mr. Zelinka has produced numerous diverse abstract and surreal situations translated into reality through his paintings in the acrylic medium. In 2006, he was awarded a degree, Doctor of Literature, honoris causa, from Cloverfield University, Republic of Panama. |
